BRENNA TULL
Brenna grew up on 5 acres outside of Raleigh. She spent her childhood vegetable gardening with her dad and learning about ornamentals from her mom. The property was a playground of woods, a creek with a beaver dam and trails built by her father. She found her love of the natural world there and carried it with her into college.
Brenna holds a Bachelor of Science from UNCA in Environmental Studies with a focus on Environmental Management and Policy. As a rising senior, Brenna studied indigenous medicinal gardens and sustainable forestry in Ecuador. Her senior year capstone research project was on the restorative effects of green space- how nature affects your mental health.
Brenna’s resume includes seasonal container design and installation with BBBarns and indoor tropical displays and perennial design with Atlantic Garden Company. She has experience both in seasonal garden maintenance and in enviornmental education.
She is currently working towards certification for the Blue Ridge Naturalist program at the Arboretum as well as for the North Carolina Environmental Education Certification.
Before coming on with Green Truck, Brenna worked at Wilkerson Nature Preserve in Raleigh. There she managed the garden and taught nature programs for children and the public.
Brenna loves to consider the ecological connection between our home gardens and the broader environment. She is the bird expert of Green Truck Gardens and enthusiastic amateur entomologist. She is a fierce proponent of the native plants that support both insects, birds and the broad web of life.
