holt mettee

Holt grew up in Asheville exploring the woods, digging in the dirt, and helping in her family’s vegetable garden. In high school, she spent time working at a summer camp farm in Brevard teaching children how to grow and harvest produce.

She took a year off between high school and college to do an internship in Senegal. There she participated in a home stay program that supplied vegetables, rice and bananas for the village. The experience offered new gardening techniques and a unique experience working in a different climate.

Holt holds a BFA from UNCA in French Language and Literature with a focus on Linguistics and translation and a minor in Creative Writing.

Post-Grad, Holt found her way back to the plant world working at Flora where She fell in love with houseplants, orchids, and tropicals. Flora offered a wide range of experiences, from working in a greenhouse propagating, maintaining and supplying plants for retail to design and install of commercial containers. Holt also worked on their small flower farm, growing and harvesting shrubs, annuals, bulbs, and cut flowers for use in weddings and floral arrangements.

Holt came to Green Truck in the spring of 2024 exited to work with native plants. She strives to mimic natural patterns in garden maintenance techniques and aspires to build more sustainable practices in landscaping. Creating gardens both for beauty and pollinator habitat. Holt has a love for the details and finds the beauty in small things.
